Objective
Contribute from the ethics approach to the academic processes related to research, teaching, service to society and university management for the strengthening of the institutional purposes of the Universidad del Azuay.
Axes of action
- Implement, within the framework of the Permanent Symposium on the University, a broad line of academic research, which has ethics as a transversal axis and as a specific study object in its relationship with the different fields of knowledge and management, in coordination with the Vice-Rector's Office for Research, involving teachers, students and administrative staff from the Universidad del Azuay and Ecuadorian and international society.
- Plan and execute activities that have ethics as a specific nucleus, that allow strengthening the service to society that the University of Azuay provides in its different settings: legal, environmental, health and social.
The Ethics Group in 2022
1. Publishing of books. During the first semester of this year, three books will be published that have ethics as their central axis. Thus, the work "Reflections on the Concept of Law in Ecuador and Latin America", which has received the contributions of national and Latin American jurists regarding law as a set of rules that regulate the conduct of individuals in society. Also, the book “Ethics Applied. Some careers of the University of Azuay”, collects the work carried out by professors and students of the Seminar that Professor Mauricio Correa Casanova, of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, dictated on this subject. Finally, the book "Ethics, University and Society" in Portuguese, brings together the work of 18 Brazilian professors who attended the course given by that name by Professor Juan Morales Ordóñez of the University of Azuay; This work is the result of the joint work of the Brazilian Universities Cooperation Group, GCUB, and the University of Azuay.
2. Generation of academic activities that come from the initiatives of the three Ethics groups of the University of Azuay: Professors Ethics Group, Student Ethics Group, Ethics Group of Former Students.
3. Realization of the Second Student Congress. On this occasion, the subject of Ethics and Law will be discussed, in coordination with the School of Law of the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the University. Likewise, the Catholic University of Cuenca will be supported in the organization of the III Congress “Ethics, University and Society”. The two events will be held in the second semester of the current year.
Ethics, University of Azuay Program
The University of Azuay with "Ethics, University of Azuay Program", will contribute significantly to the positioning of moral reflection in national and international society. It will contribute to the fulfillment of the great institutional objectives, which have ethics as the foundation. All the projects in this Program have a direct impact on society. One of the main contributions will be the treatment of ethics as an object of study, research and analysis.
Ethics Groups at the University of Azuay
The Ethics Program of the University of Azuay will strengthen its institutionality during the year 2022, consolidating the participation of professors from each of the Faculties in the so-called Professor Ethics Group, as well as that of students from the entire Institution that form the Student Group. of Ethics. Finally, former students of the University of Azuay will be invited to form the Ethics Group of Former Students.
Each of these groups will have an active participation in the Ethics Program of the University of Azuay.
