Bleeding Borders: The Forgotten Refugee Crisis

Today, June 20, marks World Refugee Day, an international day designated by the United Nations to honor refugees and displaced people around the world. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the strength and courage of people who have been forced to leave their homes to escape conflict or persecution. World Refugee Day is an occasion to foster understanding and empathy that are in short supply these days. This year's motto is: “Whoever. Anywhere. Whenever. Every person has the right to seek protection.” It seems like a no-brainer, but it certainly isn't. No person is illegal and being treated with dignity is a fundamental Human Rights issue.
