Develop a workforce trained for the green economy, a fundamental pillar for the just transition

Forética has presented the first document that is part of the Spanish observatory of green employment and fair transition developed within the framework of the "JOBS 2030 - Future of Work" project in which it analyzes the challenges of green employment and its role in the just transition. According to data collected in this report and according to the International Labor Organization (ILO), Europe has the potential to create between 700.000 and 1.000.000 green jobs in the next ten years if the European Green Deal is successfully applied. Likewise, Spain has great potential, ranking as the third economy in the euro zone in terms of contribution to green jobs.

We have repeated it until we are tired: Climate Change is a reality, and the consequences are already inevitable. The combination of global warming, extreme weather events, water scarcity or loss of nature and biodiversity, is the greatest threat we face as a society today. In a world in constant unstable balance, where sustainable development is one of the many tools to play with, different deeply disruptive elements are gaining weight and influencing like never before. In this scenario, there is a need to focus efforts on creating resilient companies in the face of economic transition, capable of training new professionals and creating new jobs specialized in green business models, based on productivity and sustainable innovation, all these instruments have an important social dimension with which they also promote the just transition.
