Preserving biodiversity, a task (also) of companies
On May 22, the International Day for Biological Diversity was celebrated, and for this reason, Harold Pauwels, Director of Standards, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) published an article in which he warns of the key role played by the private sector in the mitigation of biodiversity loss. The expert cites a recent study by Swiss Re, which indicates that 55% of the world's GDP depends on high-functioning biodiversity, which highlights the need for companies and governments to actively collaborate and commit to its care. It is known that we are far from meeting the goals proposed in the 2030 Agenda and to advance in this direction it is necessary for all companies to act, including improving the management and disclosure of their impacts on biodiversity.
