Why do we need a space ethic?

Not so long ago the nights were dark and full of stars. The Moon seemed unattainable and the stars were our way of orienting ourselves. Driven by our use of science and technology, the world today has changed. The nights are no longer dark and the stars are fading, we have reached the Moon and we have advanced satellite geolocation systems.

Space is increasingly present in our lives. In recent years the sector has grown rapidly with the arrival of new powers and private companies. Much of this development has occurred without the scrutiny of civil society as a whole. And without a reflection that allows us to consciously choose the way to relate to these new realities. For this reason, a space ethic, an ethics applied to space and analogous to bioethics. Through it we can try to answer questions that are taking shape. In some cases, hypothetical; in others, pressing.
