"Ensuring that no one is left behind": FAO's strategic plan for 2022
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has presented a report in which it outlines its strategic framework for the period 2022-2031. It articulates the organization's vision of a world in which all people are food secure, in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The document seeks to support the Sustainable Development Goals through the transformation towards more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems. To do this, it proposes four essential keys to improve food production, healthy nutrition, achieve a clean environment and a fairer and more inclusive society.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs call for transformational change, integrated approaches and solutions to obstacles to sustainable development and recognize the critical role that sustainable agriculture plays in connecting people, the planet and prosperity. In this sense, for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), transforming the world through food and agriculture is possible. A world facing increasing threats demands that we act without delay to save life, transform our agri-food systems to prepare our planet for the future, and ensure sustainable outcomes.
